I am a software developer and assistant IT manager at Larlyn Property Management in London, Ontario, Canada. My favourite computing environment is Sun Solaris and my favourite programming languages are C or C++ (depending on my mood/problem to be solved), and Perl. However, I have been tinkering with Java a bit more on my own. In fact, this site is written with JSP using NetBeans.

I am an OpenSolaris enthusiast with a 75% Solaris household, the only exception being a Windows XP notebook. I cut my teeth on Unix with Linux circa 1999, eventually moving to NetBSD and FreeBSD, and finally settling with Solaris in 2003. I can be found lurking, and occasionally posting, on a number of mailing lists at opensolaris.org, as well as some programming and Solaris groups on USENET.

I am also very musically inclined, favoring the bass guitar, and owning a variety of stringed instruments including acoustic and electric guitars, electric bass (fretted and fretless), a banjo, and even a mandolin. I would really, really love to get a sitar. I also have formal training on the piano, clarinet, and saxophone, though they have rusted over the years.

I listen to music primarily from the 70's, 80's, and early 90's, where things then completely fell apart. My biggest influences are early punk, classic rock, grunge, heavy metal, and death metal. I also have a fairly strong but selective interest in Japanese punk/rock.
